Unrealized loss of the Shokinryu (Ascending Gold Dragon) approaches 800,000 yen — the reason for showing the numbers as they are
You may notice if you are watching the distribution, but as of this morning (7/24), the Shōkinryū on the distribution account has27 averaging-down positions and an unrealized loss in the 7.6 million yen rangeexpanded to this level. Honestly, I would like to show only good numbers, but this EA is committed to “showing,” so I will intentionally post about this state.
These figures are based on the morning of July 24, 2026. Unrealized losses may expand or shrink with future price movements.
The trigger was yesterday’s market (7/23). Reports that Yemen’s Houthi rebels attacked a Saudi tanker in the Red Sea caused crude oil to rise nearly 5% for a time. When geopolitical risk increases, gold is usually bought, but this time expectations for inflation re-ignition due to higher oil prices and hawkish sentiment dominated, and gold dropped sharply from Wednesday’s high of $4,150.
Shōkinryū is a grid EA that buys during downturns. If declines continue, it increases buys to lower the average acquisition price and waits for a rebound. This time the decline was deeper than expected, and buying up to 27 lots has progressed. I will not disclose the detailed decision logic here, but the basic design of “buy more when it falls and endure” is the same as the core design published on the product page.
In the product page backtests, the maximum drawdown over about 11 years of operation is 12%. The current unrealized loss in the 7.6 million yen range, relative to the account balance in the 27 million yen range, appears to exceed that level. I do not blindly trust that it will stay as backtested; I take it honestly as it is.
Maximum DD 12% is the maximum over an 11-year period and does not guarantee an upper limit. As in cases like this where geopolitical risk causes rapid changes, there can be times exceeding the average price movements of the past 11 years. I cannot guarantee how this unrealized loss will move from now, but I will continue to publish the future developments on the distribution and live-trade results pages as they are.
Shōkinryū runs 24-hour YouTube live streams without interruption and fully discloses live-trade results. It would be easy to show only good days, but that would misalign with actual operation experience. There are days when unrealized losses grow, and I consider that part of the EA’s capability. Showing the numbers openly is the most honest way to face this EA.
For grid-type EAs that hold unrealized losses while waiting for recovery, if the lot size is too large relative to actual funds, it can exceed the tolerable unrealized loss. Situations like this are a good opportunity to review the balance between funds and lot size. Please take this opportunity to verify whether your own lot size is appropriate for your funds.
