In the latter half, the scene changed. The NFP data released on Thursday, 7/2,greatly underperformed expectations, triggering a dollar decline and a strong rise in gold. The level jumped from around $4,000 to around $4,180 in one move.
For Shōkinryū, which is long-only, this rebound provided an opportunity to catch the first move of the reversal, andthe highest weekly profit was achieved on 7/2 (+54,919 yen). Friday 7/3 had a market holiday in the U.S. with thin liquidity, but the dips near the highs were steadily bought, ending in positive territory.
