The more a rising market, the more discretion becomes a hindrance — Reflections on GOLD management
I was operating GOLD on Casiopeia.
Today there was a pattern of continued high prices, the so-called “growth day,” but along the way I let my subjectivity say “it won’t rise anymore,” and I closed my position too early.
In the end, it rose another $100, and the market’s correct move was “continue.”
In this type of situation, delaying judgment tends to cause more missed opportunities, so setting a rule for exits and letting it run tends to yield better reproducibility.
