Price Trends of Cryptocurrency Since 2016
The cryptocurrency market, which was said to be in a bubble in 2017, turned downward in 2018 and faced a tough situation. At that time, the cryptocurrency market had a market capitalization of around 90 trillion yen (the total trading volume of cryptocurrencies), but it has dropped to about 13 trillion yen now. Bitcoin fell by more than 80%, and altcoins such as Ethereum fell by more than 90%, causing many cryptocurrency holders to reduce their assets.
In this environment, in 2019 the cryptocurrency market, in my view, would see increased participation due to regulatory frameworks for cryptocurrencies and the entry of large companies, and prices rising from January 2019 toward the end of the year.
