Trend Chase is a signaling tool that targets the initial move of trends using the Aroon indicator as its main axis, along with Bull Power, Bear Power, and Parabolic.
By combining multiple indicators, it is adjusted to aim for the early stages of trends as much as possible, but there are times when it displays a series of losing signals in range-bound markets.
Now, to the point
For example, please look at the price action below.
This is a 5-minute chart of USD/JPY.
Several signals are displayed, and even if you enter on each signal, you’re likely to end up slightly winning or slightly losing.
Only the buy signals in the right-hand initial-move portion of the trend are reliably profitable.
It’s fine to enter in sequence according to the signals, but in situations like this, a small extra step may help you avoid entering at losing signals.
That extra step is to “watch the higher time frame’s movement.”
In other words, observe the market on multiple time frames.
Let’s also look at the same market on the 1-hour chart that you were viewing on the 5-minute chart just now.
The blue vertical range shows the market on the 5-minute chart.
On the 1-hour chart, there is a long consolidation range continuing, with a slight upward move.
If the higher timeframe is ranging, you can profit by entering when it breaks out of that range.
In this market, you would want to enter when it breaks out of the pink range.
Switching back to the 5-minute chart
In this case, the two rightmost buy signals seem to be effective.
When signals appear like this, rather than entering immediately, by checking the higher timeframe’s state you can reduce unnecessary losses.
Not only with this tool but always pay attention to the higher timeframe movement when trading.
