“Aim to complete rather than perfect (Done is better than perfect)” —Mark Zuckerberg
Quotes from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
“Done is better than perfect.”
In FX, this reminds me of trading rules.
I wonder if there is anything finished that matches my own trading rules?
Even with long-term backtesting, I still lack confidence somewhere…
Pursuing perfection ends up leaving things unfinished, it seems.
The market is a living thing. Perfection is impossible.
Where does the tendency to seek perfection come from?
It seems to stem from a fear of losses.
It’s a natural human trait, so it’s troublesome.
Additionally, at school we were drilled with right and wrong answers,
so the feeling that you must not make mistakes must be ingrained.
In trading, losses are inevitable…
There is no one correct or incorrect, it’s just a world of probabilities.
And so on…
These words prompted a lot of reflection.
If it were Mark Zuckerberg, I feel he would say something like this.
“Failing is fine! Let’s take it easier and go for it!”
For now… I’ll crank out a solid trading rule as a quick-and-dirty job (laughs).
― See you next time.
