The words of the famous American teacher Dr. Clark.

In 1876 (Meiji 9), Sapporo Agricultural College (now Hokkaido University) was established. First vice-principal.

At that university, not only specialized in botany, but general natural science was taught in English as well.

Boys, be ambitious! like this old man.

Be ambitious not for money or for selfish

aggrandizement, not for that evanescent

thing which men call fame.

Be ambitious for the attainment of all that

a man ought to be.

＜Japanese translation＞

少年よ、大志を抱け！。

この老人の如く。

お金のためではなく、私欲のためでもなく、名声という空虚な志のためでもなく。

人はいかにあるべきか。その道を全うするために、大志を抱け！。

諸説あるようです。続きの部分が、とても素敵だなぁと思いました。

志とか目的意識というのは、思っている以上に大事なのでしょう。

それがないと何事も継続できないでしょうから。

私がFXをずっと続けている理由は、、、

ずばり金ですかね。

人をだましてまでお金もうけしたいとは思わないのですが、

それにしてももう少し立派な志を持ちたいものです。

今日から志を変えようと思います。
