"From the very beginning, when the feelings are already there and the moment of wetting comes, there is no suffering in the heart, and the act of wetting is the same." (Hagakure)
From the famous "Hagakure" which says, "Bushidō is the way of death."
Written around 1716, Yoshimoto Jōchō’s oral accounts were transcribed by Tadashi Jinmoto,
and it records the samurai’s mindset, way of life, and the words and deeds of Saga domain samurai.
It would be equivalent to a self-improvement book today; I have liked it since long ago.
<Original text>
There is a notion of rain’s warning. If you happen to encounter a sudden shower on the way and hurry to run to avoid getting wet, even passing under eaves,
you cannot avoid getting wet.
If you had thought from the start that you would get wet, there would be no particular distress, and getting wet would be the same.
This is wisdom that applies to all things.
<Modern Japanese translation>
There is a warning about heavy rain. If you encounter a sudden shower on the way and hurry to avoid getting wet, even passing under eaves, you will still get wet.If you have always thought you would get wet from the start, there is no particular distress, and getting wet is the same.This is a principle that applies to all things.
In trading, losses cannot be avoided, as written in "Day Trading." You must accept losses... If you replace rain with losses, you’ll realize you’re saying the same thing. “Wisdom for all things” does not seem to be a joke.
So you don’t suffer needlessly or carry unnecessary stress
with a mindset like “Even if I lose, it’s fine” or “the outcome doesn’t matter.”
That is the mindset and resolve with which I traded (laugh).
Well then, see you next time.
