"There is also the splendid defeat that comes quickly in losing" (Hagakure)
From the famous Hagakure, which contains the phrase “Bushido means to die,”
written around 1716, with Yamamoto Tsunetomo’s oral recollections recorded by Tashiro Jinshu,
it describes the samurai’s code, their way of life, and the words and deeds of Saga domain samurai.
It could be considered an early self-help book; I have liked it since long ago.

In official affairs or matters of discourse, there are instances of yielding early and achieving a splendid loss.
Something like sumo wrestling.
If one is eager to win and wins in a dirty way, that is inferior to losing.
It would be a rather dirty loss.
＜Modern translation＞
In councils or some debates, there are cases of yielding early and achieving a splendid loss.
It is like sumo.
If you win too dirtyly in your desire to win, that is inferior to losing.
In other words, it becomes a dirty loss.
In the Edo period, there was a term “kitanakatsu” (dirty win), you know (laughs).
It reminded me of Houshoryu in the September basho.

I can’t imagine foul play in trading.
Also, I can’t picture “dignity.”
Then, what would “dirty win” in trading be?
Would it be winning without following my own trading rules, by sheer luck?
The capital may increase, but it might still be “inferior to losing.”
I will be careful not to become a “dirty win” trade.
