No matter how wonderful things are written on the sales page, EAs are all about results, so please take a look at the backtests of the past 10 years first for proof of the point. rising_eurjpy.jpg *Back testing period: January 2010 - October 2020 This EA is dedicated to Euroyen, but the backtest spread is wider than usual at 20 (spread 2.0). Therefore, theWe dare to make the conditions worse, but we have achieved good results even under such conditions. In addition, theThis EA is an EA that accumulates assets while repeatedly winning and losing through swing trading. We named this EA "Rising_EURJPY". Rising" means rising, and you can see from the back test results that it has been steadily rising while repeatedly winning and losing.

Combining the essence of the market and technical

The volume of trading in the foreign exchange market differs depending on the time of day. For the most part, trading volume in the Tokyo time zone is low, resulting in small movements, while in the European and New York time zones, trading volume is high and trends are more likely to form. Most traders know the above, but few have thought deeply about how to position themselves at different times of the day. This EA was developed to combine the essence of this market with technicals and to take a position only when the technical conditions match at a certain timing. This has resulted in an EA with a high winning rate despite being a swing trade. We have described the logic in the manual, but we are confident that this logic is very useful for discretionary trading as well.

The setting of the reward and the win rate and risk aversion

The default settings are SL: 100 and TP: 380, with a risk reward of 1:3.8, yet the back-test results over the past 10 years show a 68.01% win rate. Please take a look again at the backtest from January 2010 to October 2020, which I pasted at the beginning of this article. rising_eurjpy.jpg Usually the win rate decreases as the risk reward improves. The reason for the high win rate with good risk reward is that the trailing stop is triggered when the pips increase to some extent, so that the profit is not wasted. Therefore, they do not necessarily gain at 380 pips. However, it is not always right to extend profits. In my opinion, the correct way to trade is to extend profits when possible according to market conditions and to take moderate profits when the market is not fully extended. In addition, both profits and losses are closed at midnight on Friday, as the system is set up to avoid holding positions over the weekend to avoid risk.
Everyone has their own ideas about holding positions over the weekend, but some of you may have experienced large windows opening at the end of the week and losing a lot of money because the windows were not filled. I have experienced this several times in the past, when I carried over weekend positions and there was news that would move the currency markets, and I had to get up early on Monday and stick to the charts.
In other words, it is not good mental health to hold positions over the weekend. Therefore, it is recommended thatWe set up the system so that we would not carry over positions on weekends, based on the idea that we should close positions on weekends in the long run, even if immediate gains were lower. The number TP380 is the number that performed best in the back-test and was not set at random.

Can control entry in dangerous quiet markets.

The market is quiet from mid-December to a few days in January of the following year, as trading around the world is down. During this quiet market period, when a major event occurs, the price may move at once. Most recently, a flash crash occurred at 7 a.m. on January 3, 2019, plunging the dollar by more than ¥5 in just a few minutes. Thus, we have decided that it is very dangerous to trade in quiet markets, and we are set to not enter any trades from December 16 to January 5 of the following year. This is enabled by setting "Yearend_stop" to "true" in the EA settings. Rising_EURJPY_configuration.jpg If you want to trade even in quiet markets, you can set "Yearend_stop" to "false" to let the market trade. However, if you wish to trade even in quiet markets, please do so at your own risk, keeping in mind the high risk involved.

Compound interest functionality can automate financial efficiency.

The EA has a compound interest feature, which automates financial efficiency. In addition, the compound interest function can be set to increase or decrease the percentage of compound interest, so the larger this item is, the larger the increase or decrease in funds will be. However, it is important to note that while profits are large when you win, losses are also large when you lose. Therefore, it is recommended that the compound interest function not be set too high if you want to operate with a high level of safety. Note that depending on the percentage value of the compounding function, the number of lots may be traded differently than the set number of lots.
This is a specification where the lot size is determined by the amount of margin and the percentage of compound interest, so never raise the value too high when using the compound interest function.
Here is an example of how the compound interest feature is used. Note that the starting margin is 1,000,000 yen.
1.0% compound interest rising_eurjpy_1.jpg In this case, the lot is forced to be 0.1 lot because the lot is 1% of the amount of funds, and when funds reach 1.1 million yen, the lot is 0.11 lot. In this way, the lot will increase or decrease as the funds increase or decrease, building up assets in a relatively safe manner.
2.0% compound interest rising_eurjpy_2.jpg In this case, the starting lot is 0.2 lots, which is the recommended starting lot. We consider this to be a pretty good setup, as it has increased more than 20x in 10 years in our backtests.
● Compound interest rate of 3.0%. rising_eurjpy_3.jpg At a compound interest rate of 3.0, the number of lots starts at 0.3 lots and increases steadily as the funds increase. AlsoBy setting this up, on the backtest, 1 million yen temporarily exceeds 100 million yen after 10 years. However, larger lots mean greater risk, so it is necessary to operate with this understanding.
●Compound interest rate of 4.0 rising_eurjpy_4.jpg Thus, raising the compound interest rate to 4.0, one million yen has become about 300 million yen or more after 10 years. At its highest, it exceeds 500 million yen. However, as you can see from the chart above, it is over 500 million yen at its most profitable time, but has suffered considerable losses due to the financial shock of 2020. (Still, at ¥350 million, it is a substantial amount...) Also, if the compounding is too high, the maximum drawdown is very high at 42.29%, which is quite dangerous. Thus, it is best to keep in mind that a large compound interest rate means that instead of a large profit, the amount of loss is also quite large.
My personal recommendation is from "1.0" to "2.0", any higher is considered dangerous.

How to improve the performance of "Rising_EURJPY" by adding discretionary decisions

The results of the backtest are based on the assumption that the system is operating in any market. However, even if the trading is inherently automated, some discretionary judgment is required. The discretionary decision here is to stop the EA before a dangerous market. Dangerous markets are when there are important indicators, employment statistics, and FOMC meetings, and the market fluctuates greatly at these times. In the case of "Rising_EURJPY", it means Euroyen, and the market price fluctuates greatly at the ECB policy board meeting in addition to the above. Also, in the case ofWhen the market is up and down significantly, as in the financial shock of 2020, the sense of direction is lost, and the nature of EA, which trades according to the big picture, makes it very vulnerable to such directionless markets. Compared to other years, 2020 has not performed as well as other years because of the U.S. presidential election in 2020 and many large market moves. However, this is only because the backtest assumes that the EA is running all the time. Even with automated trading, if you add discretionary judgment and do not neglect to stop before dangerous market conditions, your results could be much better. In light of the above, and this can be said of any EA, we strongly recommend that discretionary judgment be applied when using EAs and that EAs be stopped in dangerous markets.
If "Rising_EURJPY" had entered on a day with an important indicator, there is no problem because the trailing stop will be automatically triggered if it is already significantly positive. If it is positive but only making a small profit, you can manually place a stop on the open price just before the important indicator so that it will not go negative even if it goes against the indicator. If it is negative, the default SL is 100 pips, but you can reduce the damage by manually making this stop shallower just before the key indicator. However, it is better to place the stop 10-20 pips away than to place it too shallow. By adding this kind of discretionary judgment, it is possible to dramatically increase the profit margin of automated trading.

About Technical Indicators

Technical indicators used The technical indicators used in "Rising_EURJPY" are RSI and CCI. However, we do not simply enter the market based on technical indicators alone, but also include non-technical indicators in our entry conditions, considering the nature of the currency market. In addition, moving average lines are used to determine trends. [About gains and losses. As for profit taking, the target is 380 pips, but the trailing stop is triggered when a certain amount of pips have been gained. Therefore, there are times when the profit target is 380 pips, and other times when it is less than 100 pips due to being caught by the trailing stop. As for the stop loss, it is 100 pips. We do not hold positions over the weekend, so all positions are closed at midnight on Friday.

at the end

The definition of a good EA is different for each person, but my definition of a good EA is one that properly accepts losing. There are EAs that have high winning rates and do not lose 99% of the time, but most of them are dangerously set up so that a single loss can melt most of your assets. In fact, I have lost most of my assets in one big loss in the past. This was due to my inability to cut my losses. That is why it is difficult to build assets in the long term without an EA that properly accepts losing. Rising_EURJPY" is a well-balanced EA that accepts losses, yet has a win rate of about 70%. Due to the nature of swing trading EAs, there may be short-term losing streaks, but we are confident that this is a very good EA for building up assets over the long term.

About Forex Automated Trading
Forex Automated Trading refers to trading that is automated through programming, incorporating predetermined trading and settlement rules. There are various methods to conduct automated trading, but at GogoJungle, we deal with Experts Advisors (hereinafter referred to as EA) that operate on a trading platform called MT4.
There are various types of EAs (Expert Advisors) for different trading types that can be used on MT4.
Just like discretionary trading, there are those that decide trading and settlement timings by combining indicators, those that repeatedly buy or sell at certain price (pips) intervals, and trading methods that utilize market anomalies or temporal features. The variety is as rich as the methods in discretionary trading.

To categorize simply,
・Scalping (Type where trades are completed within a few minutes to a few hours),
・Day Trading (Type where trades are completed within several hours to about a day),
・Swing Trading (Type where trades are conducted over a relatively long period of about 1 day to 1 week)
・Grid/Martingale Trading (Holding multiple positions at equal or unequal intervals and settling all once a profit is made. Those that gradually increase the lot number are called Martingale.)
・Anomaly EA (Mid-price trading, early morning scalping)

When engaging in Forex, there are risks in automated trading just as there are in discretionary trading.
However, a substantial advantage of automated trading is its ability to limit and predict risks beforehand.

[Risk]
Inherent to forex trading are the trading risks that undeniably exist in automated trading as well.
・Lot Size Risk
Increasing the lot size forcibly due to a high winning rate can, in rare instances, depending on the EA, lead to substantial Pips loss when a loss occurs. It is crucial to verify the SL Pips and the number of positions held before operating with an appropriate lot.

・Rapid Market Fluctuation Risk
There are instances where market prices fluctuate rapidly due to index announcements or unforeseen news. System trading does not account for such unpredictable market movements, rendering it incapable of making decisions on whether to settle in advance or abstain from trading. As a countermeasure, utilizing tools that halt the EA based on indicator announcements or the VIX (fear index) is also possible.

[Benefits]
・Operates 24 hours a day
If there is an opportunity, system trading will execute trades on your behalf consistently. It proves to be an extremely convenient tool for those unable to allocate time to trading.

・Trades dispassionately without being swayed by emotions
There is an absence of self-serving rule modifications, a common human tendency, such as increasing the lot size after consecutive losses in discretionary trading or, conversely, hastily securing profits with minimal gains.

・Accessible for beginners
To engage in Forex trading, there is no prerequisite to study; anyone using system trading will achieve the same results.

[Disadvantages]
・Cannot increase trading frequency at will
Since system trading operates based on pre-programmed conditions, depending on the type of EA, it might only execute trades a few times a month.

・Suitability may vary with market conditions
Depending on the trading type of the EA, there are periods more suited to trend trading and periods more suited to contrarian trading, making consistent results across all periods unlikely. While the previous year might have yielded good results, this year's performance might not be as promising, necessitating some level of discretion in determining whether it is an opportune time to operate.
The requirements for operating automated trading (EA) on MT4 are as follows:
・MT4 (MetaTrader 4. An account needs to be opened with a Forex company that offers MT4.)
・EA (A program for automated trading)
・The operating deposit required to run the EA
・A PC that can run 24 hours or a VPS (Virtual Private Server), where a virtual PC is hosted on a cloud server to run MT4.
If you open an account with a forex broker that supports MT4, you can use MT4 as provided by that forex broker. MT4 is a stand-alone type of software that needs to be installed on your computer, so you download the program file from the website of the FX company where you opened the account and install it on your computer.

Additionally, there are both demo and real accounts available. You can experience trading with virtual money by applying for a demo account. After opening a real account, you select the connection server assigned by the Forex broker, enter the password, and log in to the account.
When you deposit money into your account using the method specified by the forex broker, the funds will be reflected in your MT4 account, and you can trade.
To set up an EA when you purchase it through GogoJungle, follow the steps below:
Firstly, download the purchased EA file from your My Page on GogoJungle. You will download a zip (compressed) file, so right-click to extract it and retrieve the file named ‘◯◯◯ (EA name)_A19GAw09 (any 8 alphanumeric characters).ex4’ from inside.

Next, launch MT4 and navigate to ‘File’ → ‘Open Data Folder’ → ‘MQL4’ → ‘Experts’ folder, and place the ex4 file inside. Once done, close MT4 and restart it. Then, go to the upper menu ‘Tools’ → ‘Options’, and under ‘Expert Advisors’, ensure ‘Allow automated trading’ and ‘Allow DLL imports’ are checked, then press OK to close.

The necessary currency pair and time frame for the correct operation of the EA are specified on the EA sales page. Refer to this information and open the chart of the correct currency pair time frame (e.g., USDJPY5M for a USD/Yen 5-minute chart).

Within the menu navigator, under ‘Expert Advisors’, you will find the EA file name you placed earlier. Click to select it, then drag & drop it directly onto the chart to load the EA. Alternatively, you can double-click the EA name to load it onto the selected chart.

If ‘Authentication Success’ appears in the upper left of the chart, the authentication has been successful. To operate the EA, you need to keep your PC running 24 hours. Therefore, either disable the automatic sleep function or host MT4 on a VPS and operate the EA.
EAs from GogoJungle can be used with one real account and one demo account per EA.
If you want to use it with an account other than the authenticated one, you need to reset the registered account.

To reset the account, close the MT4 where the Web authentication is registered, then go to My Page on GogoJungle > Use > Digital Contents > the relevant EA > press the ‘Reset’ button for the registration number, and the registered account will be released.

When the account is in a reset state, using the EA with another MT4 account will register a new account.
Also, you can reset the account an unlimited number of times.
If you encounter an error with Web authentication, or if the EA is trading on GogoJungle's forward performance page but not on your own account, there could be various reasons. For more details, please refer to the following link:
→ Items to Check When EA is Not Operating
In Forex trading, the size of a lot is usually:

1 lot = 100,000 currency units
0.1 lot = 10,000 currency units
0.01 lot = 1,000 currency units

For USD/JPY, 1 lot would mean holding 100,000 dollars.
The margin required to hold lots is determined by the leverage set by the Forex broker.
If the leverage is 25 times, the margin required to hold 10,000 currency units of USD/JPY would be:
10000*109 (※ at a rate of 109 yen per dollar) ÷ 25 = 43,600 yen.
・Profit Factor: Total Profit ÷ Total Loss
・Risk-Return Ratio: Total Profit and Loss during the period ÷ Maximum Drawdown
・Maximum Drawdown: The largest unrealized loss during the operation period
・Maximum Position Number: This is the maximum number of positions that the EA can theoretically hold at the same time
・TP (Take Profit): The set profit-taking Pips (or specified amount, etc.) in the EA's settings
・SL (Stop Loss): The set maximum loss pips (or specified amount, etc.) in the EA's settings
・Trailing Stop: Instead of settling at a specified Pips, once a certain profit is made, the settlement SL is raised at a certain interval (towards the profit), maximizing the profit. It is a method of settlement.
・Risk-Reward Ratio (Payoff Ratio): Average Profit ÷ Average Loss
・Hedging: Holding both buy and sell positions simultaneously (Some FX companies also have types where hedging is not allowed)
