Let's create custom EAs and indicators with AI! Nice to meet you, I’m Kuu, the EA Designer. I have been involved with FX and EAs for many years, but I am not a professional programmer. In fact, I’ve never written a single line of code, and I can’t write any. What I feel has the most potential right now is a new development style: “building EAs and indicators together with AI.” In the past, if you wanted to create an EA, you would study MQL4/MQL5 or outsource to a programmer. But with the advancement of generative AI, that conventional wisdom is beginning to change significantly. “I want to buy at this kind of point” “I want to close a position when these conditions are met” “I want to display this signal on the chart” “I want to validate my discretionary trading as an EA” Tell AI these ideas in Japanese, converse, and translate them into MQL5 code, then compile, fix, backtest, and optimize through a cycle. Having AI help with programming itself creates a new option for individual traders who couldn’t write code: to shape their own trading logic into something tangible. I myself am currently using AI for actual EA and indicator development. What matters is not throwing everything to AI. “What do you want to create?” “In what market conditions do you want to use it?” “Where do you enter?” “Where do you place the stop?” “What do you want to verify?” Humans decide this concept. AI can be a powerful partner that turns those ideas into code. And whether a finished EA is truly effective must be verified by you through backtesting and forward testing. I also don’t just let AI “make it and done”; I run it on MT5, and if there’s a problem, return it to AI for adjustments, then test again. AI doesn’t guarantee a winning EA. Good backtest performance doesn’t guarantee future profits. Still, I believe there is great value in turning trading ideas that existed only in one’s head into actual runnable programs and testing them on historical data. What I want to convey is not “let AI make a winning EA for you.” What I want to say is: AI has made it possible to verify your trading ideas by yourself. From “buyer” to “maker” of EAs. From “searcher” of indicators to “thinker” of indicators. Even without perfect programming knowledge, you can start by explaining your idea to AI. I’m still in the process of trial and error myself. I want to share not only successful EAs but also the logic that didn’t go well, the problems found in backtests, fixes to AI-generated code, optimization and verification methods, and the actual development process. “I’d like to create this kind of EA.” If you have that idea, your first step is already underway.
