【9/16 Dollar-Yen Scalping Points】
Good work, everyone! Let’s do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, the overview during Tokyo time today.
Currently USD/JPY is around 146.80. This morning, it started around 147.35, but during Tokyo time, headlines such as “LDP Koizumi announces candidacy for party leadership” and “Plan to appoint Finance Minister Katō as head of the election strategy headquarters” led to a yen-buying flow.
With Koizumi and Katō working together, expectations for a rate hike within the year are rising.
From the morning level, we seem to be transitioning to the overseas session with about 55 pips of declines.
Incidentally, regarding the LDP leadership election, there are voices that the main scenario is not Takai (a lesser hawkish member) but a Koizumi-Kobayashi heads-up duel.
Now, here are tonight’s USD/JPY scalping points.
● Movements near the 16:00 London market opening
● Movements after the 21:30 U.S. Retail Sales release
● Movements near the New York market opening (Dow opens at 22:30)

● Be cautious of headlines related to the LDP leadership election
Tonight’s 1-minute scalping will focus on movements around each market opening and after the 21:30 U.S. Retail Sales release to build profits. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” following the theory should be fine.
Also, the 15-minute scalping which is solely short positions may see yen buying due to Koizumi and Katō’s coordination on the leadership election, raising expectations for a rate hike within the year. If there’s a little pullback and you can sell around the 147 level, we’ll enter.
