Macro Environment
U.S. stocks hit new all-time highs across the three major indices.
U.S. CPI rose 0.4% month over month, somewhat stronger, but year over year +2.9% and core +3.1% were as expected; the deterioration in initial jobless claims (the worst since October 2021) was the decisive factor.
The yield on the U.S. 10-year Treasury fell to 4.02% (bond buyback), and USD/JPY stabilized in the early 147s.
Ahead of the FOMC (Sept 17) and the Bank of Japan meeting (Sept 19), a combination of rate-cut expectations and a weak-yen trend is supporting the market.
