Acquire timeless skills that are essential in a fast-moving era
First, I’d like to ask about HIRO’s background. Have you been running Internet-related companies since 2001? |
| GogoNyan |
| Yes, I ran an Internet advertising business, but information updates are fast, and there is always a demand for something new. |
| I understand you entered the world of investing in 2004; what prompted that? |
| GogoNyan |
| HIRO |
Internet advertising changes rapidly, and I grew tired of that pace. Because of that, I looked for a skill that could be used for 10, 20 years or longer, and that answer was trading. |
I see. What kinds of financial instruments have you traded so far? |
| GogoNyan |
| HIRO |
| I started with individual stocks, but soon switched to trading Nikkei 225 futures and other futures. |
“Averaging down,” “holding through losses”… and a loss of 3 million yen
| What were your trading results at that time? |
| GogoNyan |
| HIRO |
At first, I kept losing like crazy... In 2006 I suffered my biggest loss, and at that time“Averaging down,”and holding resulted in a loss of 3 million yen. |
| Loss cutting is not easy, right? After such a loss, how did you invest after that? |
| GogoNyan |
| HIRO |
Yes, I began studying technical analysis seriously, and I considered which market the technical analysis would work best in. That answer was "FX," so I have traded FX exclusively since then. |
| I’m curious how HIRO studied technical analysis. |
| GogoNyan |
| HIRO |
| I basically studied from commercially available books and then tested on real charts to build usable trading rules. |

【Is Your Investment Sustainable?】 The Elliott Wave you reach after discarding scalping
| Around when did your trading results start to improve? |
| GogoNyan |
| HIRO |
Yes, by around 2008 I was able to earn a decent amount with scalping. Indeed, setting up a rule-based approach with substantiated grounds and sticking to it led to results. I focused on keeping losses shallow above all. |
| Are you still trading with scalping nowadays? |
| HIRO |
I traded scalping for about 2–3 years, but it requires stamina and concentration. When considering a method that could be continued for 10–20 years, the answer was “no.” Therefore, I began exploring Dow Theory, moving averages, and trend-following methods. |
| What is your current trading style? |
| HIRO |
It is primarily day trading focused on 5-minute and 15-minute charts. Trading based on the principles of Elliott Wave, combined with moving averages and other techniques. |
I see. That is HIRO’s“Elliott Trading,” the culmination of trading. |
