Sirin Labs Announces Japanese Release of Blockchain Smartphone "FINNY"
Sirin Labs, a company based in Switzerland and Israel, announced on the 29th the Japanese release of the world's first blockchain smartphone "FINNY."
Moshe Hogeg, founder and co-CEO of Sirin Labs, said the sales target in Japan is 20,000 units and noted that "Japan is one of the important markets."
On January 30 and 31, at the "Japan Blockchain Conference 2019," sales directly in Japan will begin.
Only pre-orders will be shipped, and purchases are available only on the official site.
In the future, sales on Amazon and a temporary storefront opening is planned around April–June 2019.
What is FINNY
"FINNY" is a smartphone equipped with a cold wallet that is disconnected from the Internet.
It uses "SIRIN OS," developed based on Android OS, and includes security protections.
Therefore, in addition to standard smartphone functions, Google Play can be used, and blockchain-enabled apps "DApps" can be used in a highly secure environment.
The wallet operates offline under normal conditions. When you slide the top of the device, the cold wallet is connected via wired connection.
Hence, it is not constantly connected to the Internet, reducing the risk of hacking and enabling safe storage of cryptocurrency.
