MMA Weekly Report Nikkei Average Stock Price By Raymond Merriman Sep.8 2025
1. Overview
The Nikkei Stock Average closed last week at 43,018, up 300 points from the previous week. The week's low was 41,835 on Monday, and the week's high was 43,220 on Friday the 5th. Although the weekly low fell below the lower support line, the closing price remained between the lower support line and the upper resistance line, so it was neutral. However, the market remained generally firm. Additionally, this closing price exceeded the weekly Trend Indicator Point (TIP) by 15 weeks out of 16, indicating that the overall trend remains in an upward phase.
2. Cycles
As I explained in my book “Forecast 2025,” the Nikkei Stock Average has a long-term market cycle of 17 years. Its starting point was 6,994 on October 28, 2008. This cycle splits into two by 8.33-year cycles, with the first half ending at the “double bottom” of 14,864 on June 24, 2016 and 14,865 on February 12 of the same year. The second half (the 2nd 8.33-year cycle) then began. 2025 is the 17th year of the 17-year cycle.
