【8/21 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Thanks for your hard work! Now, let's do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, here is today’s Tokyo session overview.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 147.40. It started in the 147.30 area this morning, but in the Tokyo session it moved little, staying in the low 147s.
From today, the Jackson Hole Meeting is underway, and Powell, the Fed Chair, is scheduled to speak on the 22nd at 23:00 JST. Until then, it feels like there’s not much movement. The key is whether Powell will become dovish.
Also, Bank of Japan Governor Ueda is expected to attend the Jackson Hole meeting. Be cautious of hawkish remarks in response to the Biden administration’s comments about the BOJ delaying rate hikes.
If Powell becomes dovish and Ueda becomes hawkish, both would be downward pressure factors for USD/JPY.
It seems we’ll hand off to overseas hours near the early morning levels.
Now, the points for USD/JPY scalping tonight.
● Movement near the London market open around 16:00
● Movement after the release of US initial jobless claims and the Philadelphia Fed Manufacturing Index at 21:30
● Movement near the New York market open around 22:00 (Dow opens at 22:30)
● Movement after the release of the US Manufacturing PMI/Non-Manufacturing PMI at 22:45

Tonight’s 1-minute scalping focuses on moves around market opens and the 21:30 releases of US initial jobless claims and the Philadelphia Fed index, plus the 22:45 PMI releases for manufacturing and non-manufacturing. For “1-minute Scalping Club” users, handle them according to theory without issue.
Also, the 15-minute scalp focused on short trades only is likely to be uneventful ahead of Powell’s speech at Jackson Hole tomorrow, so don’t force trades today. If any move occurs, it would be after US data releases.
