A person who is happy can become a winning trader
I am Takashi, former accountant, psychological counselor, and trader.
Many people search for methods in order to become a winning trader.
There are few who intend to adopt the mindset of a winning trader.
Everything begins with thinking
Whether you can become a winning trader depends on your thinking and values.
That’s how important thinking is.
Why do you want to win in trading?
There are many reasons such as wanting money, wanting to buy something, wanting to quit a company you don’t want to work for, etc., but
ultimately, isn’t it for the purpose of “wanting to be happy”?
To be happy, you want to win in trading.
If you think that you will become happy by winning in trading,
If you win in trading, you will be happy.
Many people probably think this way.
However, the reality is the opposite.
Research results in the field of positive psychology show that
It is not that happiness comes after success
but that happy people succeed
This is what has been found.
I would like to share more about this research when there is another opportunity.
For now, we will continue with the question, what is “happiness” in the first place?
We found that to succeed, you must first become happy.
Then, how can we become happy?
In the world of psychology, there are two theories.
One is bottom-up theory
“If ○○ happens, I’ll be happy”
This way of thinking.
If you have money you’ll be happy, if you have luxury brand items you’ll be happy, if you have a lover you’ll be happy, if you’re confessed to by a cute guy (handsome man) you’ll be happy, if you have a cat you’ll be happy!
Don’t you think, “If only I had that, I’d be happy”?
If I have this and that, I’d surely be happy.
The total number of positive events determines happiness.
That is the bottom-up theory.
Happiness is determined by external factors.
The other theory is,
Top-down theory
More than the events themselves,
an individual's personality and mindset determine happiness
This theory posits that happiness is determined by internal factors.
In contrast to the first theory, happiness is determined by internal factors.
Now, which theory do you think is correct?
Which of these two theories is correct?
This has been debated for a long time in psychology.
And after many studies,
the top-down theory was found to be more correct
that is,
more than the events themselves,
an individual's personality and mindset determine happiness
happiness is an internal factor.
External factors such as “○○ would bring happiness” are not the source of happiness.
It is incorrect to think, “If ○○ were present, I would be happy,” or, “I’m not happy because ○○ is missing.”Those who think, “I’m not happy because ○○ is missing,” can become happy by changing their thinking. In other words, not adopting a happiness mindset is why you aren’t happy.By changing internal factors rather than external ones, you can become happy.Ways to think about happinessI’ll introduce one concrete example.Take everything that happens to you as 100% your own responsibility.Do not blame others or externalities. Do not shift responsibility. That is the mindset and value of happy people. The happy and wealthy also share this common sense. Are you blaming others for the losses you incur in trading?“Because of some news, I collapsed and lost; because of Trump’s reckless remarks, I lost; because a hedge fund dumped on me, I lost.”“Because of that, because of this, it’s terrible.”People with this mindset cannot become winners.Let us think that the cause of loss lies 100% with oneself.People who cannot adopt the mindset of happy people cannot win.So, first, you need to adopt the mindset of happy people. When I was blogging about this before, someone said to me,“Not blaming others is a fine way of thinking.”It’s not about greatness of thought, but a rational way to improve life.If you believe that 100% of the cause is you, you can turn problems that cannot be solved into solvable ones.Others cannot be changed; only yourself can be changed. If you blame someone or something, you must change someone or something. However, you cannot change others at will.Blaming others means you cannot solve the problem. If you say, “Trump’s reckless remarks caused me to lose,” you won’t reflect honestly since you don’t think you are the cause. Then you can’t improve anything. There remains a risk of losing due to Trump’s statements again. If you keep blaming someone or something, the only path is to be defeated by someone or something. One of the three great founders of psychology, Alfred Adler, has the same idea in Adlerian psychology.“Introduction to Adlerian Psychology by Ichiro Kishimi, KK Best Sellers”I will quote from that book. When you view it as an issue of how you live your life, Adlerian psychology is very stringent.Perhaps in the past and now, the idea that everything is your responsibility has not been easily accepted.Your life cannot be replaced by anyone else, and when things don’t go well, you cannot have someone else solve your problems for you,and you must refuse to blame external causes, past events, or talents for your lack of success. You must refuse to attribute your failures to external factors. If you feel you have no room to act, in the face of unhappiness, all you have left is to wait with your hands folded. That is all.If you blame your unhappiness on others, others cannot be controlled as you wish, and you cannot do anything yourself, and you will remain unhappy forever.Happy people, when something unhappy happens, do not think it is someone else’s fault, they take all responsibility themselves, they believe the cause is within themselves, andthey choose to change themselves and improve to solve it.Mencius“When everything you do does not go well, consider that perhaps the cause lies within yourself.”“If you can do that, you yourself will become more virtuous, and all matters in the world will come toward you.”There is a story about the mindset of the ultra-wealthy.“The 58 Habits of the World’s Wealthy That Only Butlers Know”by Naoto Arai, President of Japan Butler & ConciergeI have met many wealthy people, and I have never seen them complain. They think, “Perhaps suspicious people come near me because I have a flaw,” and, “If a new business isn’t going well, it might be because I couldn’t see the right opportunities.”They never blame others. They reflect on their own actions and judgments to find the causes. No matter what problems arise, they see everything as the result of their own actions, so they do not engage in fruitless regret or complaint.Complaining is the same as complaining about oneself.Living proactively in your own life is what this means, and at least it is far more attractive than a life of constant complaints. That is all.Let us be mindful of this way of thinking. No matter what problems arise, see everything as the result of your own actions“Happy people can become winning traders”There was a sudden crash at the beginning of 2019.On Twitter, someone commented like this.“This is not easy to predict, rightthe stop loss doesn’t seem to have time either”Blaming others and thinking you cannot do anything about it is evident.I replied like this:That’s rightNo one can predict itIn this rapid crash, it would be difficult to respond quickly with a stop lossHowever, the cause of losing is not that you couldn’t predict it or couldn’t stop loss in timeIf you think, “I couldn’t stop loss because I couldn’t predict it,” you will have no winning futureWhen you lose in trading, consider the cause to be yourself. If you are the cause, it is a problem you can solve. Not because of someone else or something external; you did not lose by something you cannot control.Think that you were the cause and choose a path to improve. And this is a mindset that will make you a winning trader, and at the same time it will improve your life, so make it a habit.“The 7 Habits” by Stephen R. Covey, King Bear PublishingHabit 1: Be ProactiveTake responsibility for your lifeI know it is a concept that is difficult to accept mentally.Especially for those who have long blamed their unhappiness on their environment or others’ actions. However, until you can honestly say, “The current situation is the result of my choices up to now,”you cannot choose another path.I am on Twitter:https://twitter.com/takashipyoI post trading videos:Trading that turned 100,000 yen into 1,000,000 yenTakashi Kirakira FXtrader – series indexThose who think, “I’m not happy because ○○ is missing,” can become happy by changing their thinking.
In other words, not adopting a happiness mindset is why you aren’t happy.
By changing internal factors rather than external ones, you can become happy.
Ways to think about happiness
I’ll introduce one concrete example.
Take everything that happens to you as 100% your own responsibility.
Do not blame others or externalities. Do not shift responsibility.
That is the mindset and value of happy people.
The happy and wealthy also share this common sense.
Are you blaming others for the losses you incur in trading?
“Because of some news, I collapsed and lost; because of Trump’s reckless remarks, I lost; because a hedge fund dumped on me, I lost.”
“Because of that, because of this, it’s terrible.”
People with this mindset cannot become winners.
Let us think that the cause of loss lies 100% with oneself.
People who cannot adopt the mindset of happy people cannot win.
So, first, you need to adopt the mindset of happy people.
When I was blogging about this before, someone said to me,
“Not blaming others is a fine way of thinking.”
It’s not about greatness of thought, but a rational way to improve life.
If you believe that 100% of the cause is you, you can turn problems that cannot be solved into solvable ones.
Others cannot be changed; only yourself can be changed.
If you blame someone or something, you must change someone or something.
However, you cannot change others at will.
Blaming others means you cannot solve the problem.
One of the three great founders of psychology, Alfred Adler, has the same idea in Adlerian psychology.
“Introduction to Adlerian Psychology by Ichiro Kishimi, KK Best Sellers”I will quote from that book.
When you view it as an issue of how you live your life, Adlerian psychology is very stringent.
Perhaps in the past and now, the idea that everything is your responsibility has not been easily accepted.
Your life cannot be replaced by anyone else, and when things don’t go well, you cannot have someone else solve your problems for you,
and you must refuse to blame external causes, past events, or talents for your lack of success.
You must refuse to attribute your failures to external factors.
If you feel you have no room to act, in the face of unhappiness, all you have left is to wait with your hands folded.
That is all.
If you blame your unhappiness on others, others cannot be controlled as you wish,
and you cannot do anything yourself,
and you will remain unhappy forever.
Happy people, when something unhappy happens, do not think it is someone else’s fault,
they take all responsibility themselves, they believe the cause is within themselves, and
they choose to change themselves and improve to solve it.
There is a story about the mindset of the ultra-wealthy.
I have met many wealthy people, and I have never seen them complain.
Living proactively in your own life is what this means, and at least it is far more attractive than a life of constant complaints.
