Coincheck Obtains Approval from the Financial Services Agency
On January 11, 2019, Coincheck, a cryptocurrency exchange under the Monex Group, obtained approval from the Financial Services Agency as a "cryptocurrency exchange business" under the amended Payment Services Act (Kanto Finance Bureau registration number: 14).

Coincheck is one of the largest domestic cryptocurrency exchanges, and has previously suffered a large hacking incident (the NEM leakage incident).
A few months after the hacking incident, it was acquired by domestic financial giant Monex Group, and since then has been preparing to obtain approval from the Financial Services Agency.
