This time, we will go deeper into the core of the Takizawa Chicago Letter: Political Global Macro! Please enjoy the main video as well.

Q. Tell us about Political Global Macro |
| Hakubun Takizawa |
I believe I was probably the first in Japan to introduce the term "Force Turning." If you trace American history back, it connects to British history, doesn't it? The Anglo-America that held global dominance for 300 years, when the power shifted from Britain to the United States in the 20th century, what happened and how did financial markets evolve? When viewed as a chart, Political Global Macro emerges. Because financial markets are within Political Global Macro, I have made "being ahead of the world" my weapon and product. |

Q. Tell us about Force Turning. |
| Hakubun Takizawa |
First, what sparked my interest in Force Turning is how the United States handled the Lehman Shock. There were areas where the United States seemed to have peaked, and it was then that I learned about Force Turning.
The four broad cycles of human life—youth and prime adulthood, etc.—are closely intertwined with societal cycles. The idea is that when the four cycles of society end (one Force Turning ends), a new era begins. |
Q. What is America’s Force Turning? |
| Hakubun Takizawa |
In America's past Force Turnings, wars mark major turning points. The first Force Turning in America is the American Revolution. The next is the Civil War, followed by World War II. And now we are in the fourth Force Turning. As the way a Force Turning ends, it often does not end in peace but in war.
I have interacted personally with Neil Howe, who wrote the Force Turning theory, but he advances the theory on the premise that the United States becomes the winner and creates a new era through Force Turning. My view, however, differs; I see the fourth Force Turning as the end of American hegemonic dominance. Based on such thinking, I am watching what the next world will become. In the future, should a Third World War occur, I would like to analyze financial markets while making predictions. |
Q. Finally, could you share a message? |
| Hakubun Takizawa |
Even if what is happening now is a dystopia, it is not the end of the world; a new world awaits. Live with the resolve and flexibility to reach that point, and with hope. I think it's important to maintain the view that financial markets exist along that trajectory. |
