【6/17 Dollar-Yen Scalping Points】
Thanks for your hard work! Now let's do some USDJPY scalping again tonight!
First, here is today's Tokyo session overview.
Currently USDJPY is around 144.60. This morning it started around 144.70, but in the early Tokyo session, as Middle East tensions continued to rise, a risk-off dollar buying trend prevailed.
Before 10:00 Japan time, it rose to today's Asia high around 145.10.
After the BOJ meeting's headlines—“policy rate unchanged” and “narrowing the pace of government bond purchases after April 2026”—there was slight selling, and it seems it will likely hand over to the overseas session at roughly the same level as in the morning.
Also... President Trump posted a message saying “Everyone should evacuate Tehran immediately!” and there is talk that conflicts could intensify soon... It’s very ominous.
Now, the points for tonight's USDJPY scalping.
● Movements around 16:00 London market open
● Movements after the US retail sales release at 21:30
● Movements around the New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)
—–
● Attention to headlines related to the Trump administration
Tonight's 1-minute chart scalping aims to accumulate profits from moves near each market open in addition to the move after the 21:30 US retail sales release. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” handling according to the theory should be fine.
Also, the 15-minute scalping dedicated to short positions should not push too hard today, given the Middle East tensions and the risk-off dollar buying.
Now, the overseas session is about to begin!
【6/17 Major US Indicators/Events】
● 21:30 US Retail Sales / Retail Sales (excluding autos)
—–
● 22:15 US Industrial Production
—–
For USDJPY scalpers, be mindful of the timing and avoid entries right before indicators/events.
