Tokyo time, USD/JPY fell as Moody's lowered the U.S. rating at the end of last week, causing after-hoursNY futures to drop at the start of the week. The dollar/yen followed the downtrend, slipping below last Friday's low of144.92 yen to144.80 yen, before being bought back to around145 yen, though the rebound was limited. In European time, as European traders entered with U.S. dollar selling at the start of the week, USD/JPY fell through144.80 yen to144.66 yen. NY time, USD/JPY, supported by firm U.S. stocks and U.S. Treasuries, recovered to145.22 yen.
