MMA Weekly Report Nikkei Stock Average By Raymond Merriman May.12 2025
1. Review
The Nikkei 225 average closed last week up 673 points from the previous week at 37,503. The week's low was on Thursday, May 8, at 36,606. The week's high was on Friday, May 9, at 37,557. Since the closing price exceeded the weekly upper resistance line for two consecutive weeks, the outlook has shifted from neutral to bullish for two weeks in a row. Furthermore, this closing price surpassed the Weekly Trend Indicator Point (TIP) for three consecutive weeks. Therefore, the trend has been upgraded from “neutral” to an “uptrend.”
2. Cycles
As explained in my book “Forecast 2025,” the Nikkei Stock Average has a long-term market cycle of 17 years. The starting point was 6,994 on October 28, 2008. This cycle is divided into two 8.33-year parts, with the first half ending at June 24, 2016, at 14,864, and February 12, 2016, at 14,865, forming a “double bottom.” From there, the second half (the 2nd - 8.33-year cycle) began. And 2025 is the 17th year of the 17-year cycle.
