Failing to cut losses will burn your funds! A shocking failure story |
| First, Mr. M, could you share a big mistake you made in FX? |
| Gogonyan |
| M |
The early mistake was “not cutting losses.” I thought that if I kept losing, I should just keep throwing money in and endure it, which was a big mistake.
I learned the hard way that letting losses run without a cut is the wrong approach. |
| M |
I kept positions hoping “they’ll come back someday.” As a result, I experienced not just 1,000 pips of loss, but 2,000 pips, 3,000 pips against me, and my funds dropped significantly. That experience taught me something I could never learn from a book; having lived through it is a valuable asset. |
Reading about it in books and actually experiencing it are very different. Afterward, how did you rethink stop-loss? |
| Gogonyan |
| M |
To beginners, I want to loudly say: when you take a position, you must always set a stop-loss in advance. Without that, surviving in FX becomes very difficult. |
"Trading without watching this means death." |
| From there, how did you turn toward “success”? |
| Gogonyan |
| M |
Conclusion: I became able to read the market to a certain extent, and I started to win.To get there, I studied as if my life depended on it—more intensely than any exam preparation I had ever done.
I see! Do you have any keywords for reaching the point where you can read the market? |
| Gogonyan |
| M |
FX is a sum of many factors; it’s crucial to keep several key points in check.
| We hear that you also apply that thinking and analysis in your EA. |
| Gogonyan |
| M |
Yes. Additionally, since I dislike staying glued in front of the PC, I have the EA work 24 hours a day.
Learning from the Swiss shock: a comeback portfolio strategy |
| Next, Keiji, could you share your failure stories and turning points? |
| Gogonyan |
| Keiji |
| When I started running an EA, I used one that bought EUR/CHF, and in the early days it was quite profitable. |
| Keiji |
Back then Switzerland was said to be under a peg and wouldn’t move below 1.2, but eventually the price stuck at 1.2 and hardly moved. Swap would come in, but settlements were not possible, until the 2015 “Swiss Franc Shock” occurred, causing a large loss. |
That drew a lot of attention in the news, didn’t it? From there, how did you recover? |
| Gogonyan |
| Keiji |
At that time I was also involved in binary options, cryptocurrencies, and stocks. Binary options gradually moved to fully automated trading; rather than aiming to win absolutely, I focused on win rate, trading to see gains or losses of several millions per day. |
| Keiji |
Ultimately about half of my investment capital grew through binary trading. However, I also built a portfolio including cryptocurrencies and stocks. |
Thank you.
Up to here, we’ve heard Mr. M and Mr. Keiji’s failure stories and turning points. To help many GogoJungle traders, they teamed up to develop “Zone Elliott.” |
| Gogonyan |
By using “Zone Elliott,” you can acquire lifelong trading skills, and we hope to deliver such content in the third episode. Mr. M, Mr. Keiji, thank you for today as well! |
