The major American cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase (Coinbase) announced on December 7 in Japan time that it is conducting investigations and considerations regarding the listing of 27 currencies, including the cryptocurrency XRP (Ripple) and the cryptocurrency Stellar (Stellar).
The market capitalizations of Ripple and Stellar are currently second and fourth respectively, and since this is still under consideration, listing has not been decided, but a listing announcement is expected relatively soon.

Typically, when an exchange adds a new asset (cryptocurrency),it requires careful and exploratory work from both technical and compliance perspectivesto ensure safety and legality.
Therefore, it is not guaranteed that all of the 27 currencies listed by Coinbase will become tradable.

“We plan to offer at least 90% of all compliant digital assets to our customers based on market capitalization.”
“We will evaluate them within the Digital Asset Framework to build security, compliance, and an open financial system.”
Coinbase has set its goal as,
“to provide support for all assets that meet our standards and fully comply with local laws.”
indicating a positive stance toward the spread of cryptocurrencies.
This stance can also be inferred from the following four actions.
- In September,they released a new listing policyand announced that they would handle many altcoins in line with local regulatory policies
- Coinbase raised $300 million in October. It announced that those funds would be used to rapidly add cryptocurrency pairs
- to conduct research and consideration based on securities, compliance, and project vision
- In November, Coinbase Custody added XRP to its custody listas a custodied asset
