[Methods freely available] Tonight's USD/JPY scalping points 2025/3/17
From Tomizaki at Trading Office.
【3/17 Dollar-Yen Scalping Points】
Good job today! Alright, let’s do dollar-yen scalping again tonight!
First, the overview for Tokyo time today.
Currently, the dollar-yen is around 148.85. This morning, it started around 148.75, but during Tokyo time, ahead of the Bank of Japan policy meeting and the U.S. FOMC this week, there is no clear direction, with expectations leaning toward holding rates, and a mild yen-selling trend seems to be prevailing.
It seems we will hand over to overseas trading at roughly the morning level. Today, moves are likely to be sluggish until U.S. indicators.
Now, here are tonight’s dollar-yen scalping points.
● Movements around 16:00 when the London market opens
● Movements after the release of “U.S. Retail Sales” and “U.S. NY Fed Manufacturing Index” at 21:30
● Movements around the New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)
● Be cautious of headlines related to the Trump administration
● Be cautious of headlines related to additional BoJ rate hikes
Tonight’s 1-minute scalping will likely find opportunities around market opens and after the 21:30 releases of “U.S. Retail Sales” and “U.S. NY Fed Manufacturing Index.” For users of the “1-minute Scalping Club,” if you handle it according to the theory, there shouldn’t be a problem.
Also, the 15-minute scalping which focuses on shorts, will likely have opportunities if position adjustments emerge ahead of the U.S.-Japan monetary policy decisions this week, but since both sides expect rates to hold, avoid chasing, and manage positions in small increments.
With that, overseas time is about to begin!
【3/17 Main U.S. Indicators/Events】
● 21:30 U.S. Retail Sales
● 21:30 U.S. NY Fed Manufacturing Index
