DAY 58: Completed Trade System – Introduction of Implementation Examples
On DAY 57,Final adjustments to risk managementwere reviewed to set concrete rules for integrating the elements learned so far and to emphasize the importance of building mechanisms that are easy to protect.
Today’sDAY 58will further deepen these by introducing several examples of actual trading system completion.
These cases are only examples, as people have different strengths, weaknesses, and lifestyles, sothere is no need to copy them exactly
1. Case 1: EA x discretionary hybrid – A’s case
(1) System configuration
-
EA (trend following)
- Currency pairs: USD/JPY, EUR/USD
- Operating hours: basically 24 hours, but auto-stop 1 hour before important indicators (jobs data, FOMC)
- Stop loss / take profit: fixed pips plus trailing function
- Lot size: risk 1.5% of account balance per trade (image of 1.5% decrease on one loss)
-
Discretionary (range reversal)
- Currency pair: mainly GBP/USD (high volatility)
- Operating hours: London time (roughly 16:00–20:00 Japan time)
- Entry basis: Bollinger Bands ±2σ rebound + RSI (70/30)
- Loss per trade limited to within 1% of account balance
(2) Summary of risk management
- Total lot cap
- If EA holds 3 positions, reduce the discretionary lot by half, etc.
- Total risk: target up to 3% of funds
- Market environment adaptation
- When range continues, EA tends to lose streaks → lower EA lot to 0.75% or pause
- Conversely, in a range, discretionary reversal tends to perform better → increase discretionary lots slightly
- Pre-indicator pause
- Before major indicators, set auto-stop and re-entry; discretionary should close positions 20 minutes before the indicator or move to break-even/stop
(3) Success points
- EA earns steadily in trending markets
- If a range causes a losing streak, stop; discretionary covers during ranges
- Regular monitoring (weekly)
- Check EA win rate, discretionary win rate, and drawdowns
2. Case 2: Short-term scalping + swing – B’s case
(1) System configuration
-
Scalping (micro-short term)
- Currency pairs: EUR/USD or USD/JPY (narrow spreads)
- Time window: London to early New York session (Japan time 17:00–22:00) concentrated
- Stop loss: fixed 10 pips; take profit around 10 pips + price action adjustments
- Lot: 0.5% of funds per trade (low risk but high frequency)
-
Swing (mid-term)
- Currency pairs: AUD/JPY, EUR/GBP, etc. hold for several days if opportunities arise weekly
- Entry basis: 4-hour MA cross + fundamental factors (rate hike expectations)
- Stop/target: wide ranges (50–100 pips), refer to ATR
- Lot: within 1.5% of funds per trade
(2) Summary of risk management
- Operate with 2 accounts
- Separate scalping and swing accounts, split funds roughly 6:4
- If DD exceeds 10% in either account, pause clearly
- Market environment-specific
- In strong trends, scalping can win consistently, but swing can target larger profits → slightly increase swing lot
- In range-dominated markets, scalping small profits while swing is avoided or EA paused
- Weekly summary
- Combine scalping and swing P/L and drawdown to understand overall balance
- Because accounts are separate, correlation risk is lower, but watch total lot size when currency overlaps
(3) Success points
- Reduce psychological burden
- Scalping concentrates during the tight time window; otherwise monitor swing positions
- Since funds are distributed across two accounts, the risk of losing all funds if one side loses is low
- Stable performance
- Gradually build with scalping during winning streaks and swing to capture big gains → easier to achieve stable monthly profits
3. Common tips seen in the cases
- Clearly separate multiple approaches
- Running Logic A and Logic B on the same account can cause confusion → separate accounts or use tools to unify management
- Set stop loss, take profit, and market environment responses for each method
- Trend EA: take profit mainly with trailing; range-type: fixed pips, etc.
- Important: set risk to match the characteristics of “that strategy.”
- Monitor total risk
- Ultimately, what percentage risk is taken across the entire account, and whether multiple methods hold opposite positionsshould be checked regularly.
- Regular performance evaluation and ON/OFF decisions
- Weekly or monthly compare win rates, PF, and DD for each method → reduce lots or pause when performance declines.
- If a method aligns with market conditions, slightly increase its lot to target returns.
4. Note: Updates continue even after system completion
-
The market changes
- Today’s best-performing trend EA may be irrelevant if the market ranges for six months tomorrow.
- Even a completed system needs periodic verification, forward testing results review, and fine-tuning.
-
Lifestyle and mental state change
- If work becomes busier or family grows, time at the screen decreases and scalping becomes harder, etc.
- Even after a method is completed, updating it several months to years later is a natural process.
-
Avoid excessive complexity all at once
- Adding too many methods can overwhelm, making validation time and operation management fall apart.
- Start with a simple portfolio of 2–3 methods, operate, and gradually expand as you gain experience.
5. Summary & next forecast
Summary
- Two examples of trading system completionintroduced: EA x discretionary, short-term x swing, etc. When running multiple approaches together, managing risk is crucial.
- Common tips:
- (a) Clearly separate each method and optimize their stop loss, take profit, and market-environment responses.
- (c) Always be mindful of total risk and manage correlation risk to avoid excessive overlap.
- Even finally, updates will continue: Stay flexible to market and lifestyle changes.
Upcoming (DAY 59–60) plans
- DAY 59:Integrating annual planning with ongoing learning→ Details on how to operate over a year and deepen learning.
- DAY 60 (final):Summary & Q&A→ Review the overall learning and finalize to establish a long-term winning trading life.
