[Method free公開中] Tonight's USD/JPY scalping points 2025/2/21
This is Tomizaki from Trading Office.
【2/21 Dollar-Yen Scalping Points】
Hello everyone! Let’s continue with dollar-yen scalping tonight as well!
First, from today's Tokyo time overview. The current dollar-yen is around 150.30 yen. This morning the pair started around 149.50 yen, but during Tokyo time it fell to around 149.30 yen just before the Japanese CPI release; however, after the release it moved back up since results were roughly in line with expectations, and did not break below 149 yen.
Additionally, after Governor Ueda of the Bank of Japan said that if long-term rates rise sharply, they will actively increase government bond purchases, the dollar-yen rose further. It recovered to around 150.75 yen just after 11:30.
Subsequently, he also indicated that if the price outlook improves, further rate hikes could be considered, so the upside did not extend, and from the morning level it rose about 80 pips, handing over to the overseas session.
Now, here are the points for tonight’s dollar-yen scalping.
● Movements near the 17:00 London market Open
● Movements near the 23:00 New York market Open (Dow opens at 23:30)
● Movements after the releases of “US Manufacturing PMI [Flash] / US Non-Manufacturing PMI [Flash]”
● Movements after the releases of “US Existing Home Sales” and “US University of Michigan Consumer Confidence Index [Final]”
● Pay attention to remarks from US officials
● Pay attention to developments in the Trump administration
● Pay attention to headlines related to BoJ further rate hikes
Tonight’s 1-minute scalping will create opportunities around market opens and after the 23:45 “US Manufacturing PMI [Flash] / US Non-Manufacturing PMI [Flash]”, and after 24:00 “US Existing Home Sales” and “US University of Michigan Consumer Confidence Index [Final]” releases. There will be multiple US data release times close together, so caution is needed, but for users of the “1-minute scalping club,” following the theory should be fine.
Also, for short-only 15-minute scalping, there has been excessive selling from just before today’s domestic CPI release, so after the short-covering cycle, opportunities may arise. Wait for a slight pullback and look for a setup around the mid-150 yen level to initiate.
Thank you for your continued support today!
