The dollar/yen spread was around 5–7 pips, and the pound/yen around 12 pips—wider than now.
Even domestic brokers offered high leverage, around 200–400x, so I decided to give trading a try.

At that time I was working for a U.S. financial institution, but I took early retirement and used my severance pay for FX, and I lost about 30–50 million yen in roughly three months.

Knowledge alone won’t win…

However, if even professionals who worked at financial institutions can’t win, then what can one do to start winning?What should one do to start winning?

As you said, there really are big traders earning around 3 billion a year, and I’ve met such people nationwide; I think they’re doing about 40% of the same things as me.

Also, the difference between professional investors and amateurs isn’t that big—the basis for entering can be the low from a month ago or from two months ago, that kind of difference.

But to close that gap, you need to calmly and steadily practice the “contrarian brain” as a habit, as if you were breathing.
