[Techniques Free Public] Tonight's USD/JPY scalping points 2025/2/18

[2/18 Dollar-Yen Scalping Points]
Good job today! Now, let's do dollar-yen scalping again tonight!
First, from today's Tokyo session overview. Currently, the USD/JPY is around 152.05. The pair started this morning around 151.45, but during the Tokyo session, Federal Reserve Governor Lael Brainard’s comment saying “at this point we do not support rate cuts, a temporary pause is desirable until inflation steadies” led to stronger dollar buying, pushing it into the 152 range.
From the morning level, it’s about a 60-pip rise and will likely transition to the overseas session.
With expectations of additional rate hikes by the Bank of Japan, selling may come in from the 152 range, but it might be wise to wait and see until the movement settles.
Now, here are the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around the London market open near 17:00
● Movements after the 22:30 release of the U.S. NY Fed manufacturing index
● Movements around the New York market open near 23:00 (Dow opens at 23:30)
● Be aware of remarks from U.S. officials
● Be aware of developments in the Trump administration
● Be mindful of headlines related to BoJ's additional rate hikes
Tonight’s 1-minute scalp will likely present opportunities around market opens and after the 22:30 U.S. NY Fed manufacturing index release. For users of the “1-Minute Scalping Club,” handling them according to theory should be fine.
Also, for the 15-minute scalp that focuses on shorts only, Tokyo session was an outright climb, but after buying interest subsides there may be opportunities. If we can sell above the mid-151s, we’ll place entries. However, given the dollar-bullish phase due to Brainard’s remarks, we’ll take profits gradually and manage entries finely.
