【2/7 Dollar-Yen Scalping Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Now, let's do dollar-yen scalping again tonight!
First, here is today's Tokyo session overview.
Currently, the dollar-yen is around 151.60. This morning, it started around 151.40, but in the early Tokyo session, yen strength progressed to around 150.95 amid expectations of an additional BOJ rate hike.
However, after the yen buying cooled off, as US jobs data loomed, there was position-adjusting buying of dollars and selling of yen, bringing it back to the mid-151s. It seems those who sold aggressively got trapped.
From the morning level, about a 20-pip rise would likely carry into overseas hours.
Also, statements at the Japan-U.S. leaders meeting will be watched, but the press conference is said to be around 27:00.
Now, the points for tonight's dollar-yen scalping.
● Action near the London market open around 17:00
● Action after the US jobs data release at 22:30
● Action around the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
● Action after the US University of Michigan Consumer Confidence Index release at 24:00
● Watch for remarks by US officials
● Watch for developments in the Trump-era administration
● Watch for headlines related to BOJ rate hikes
Tonight's 1-minute scalping also offers opportunities around market opens and after the 22:30 US jobless claims and the 24:00 US University of Michigan Consumer Confidence release. For users of the "1-minute Scalping Club," if you handle according to the theory, there should be no problem.
Also, the 15-minute scalping, which is a short-side focus, is unlikely to present many chances as there is adjustments to the dollar and yen in expectation of US jobs data this week. Today, staying on the sidelines would be wise.
