Gripe 1: Things I wish GogoJungle would try harder at, and stories of troublesome inquiries
Good morning everyone. I’m Renmii.
Unbelievably, on my fifth article I suddenly started venting. It’s really just venting. If you don’t mind, please listen.
Last time I wrote about my thoughts on overfitting, including a discussion of what happened when I tried it intentionally. If you haven’t read it yet, please go from the URL below.

Now, this time it’s venting. Really, it’s just venting. I want to talk about things I wish GogoJungle would do better and a story about troublesome inquiries.
I thought writing about complaints toward the GogoJungle service itself might be odd, but honestly, I started writing because I hoped that honestly expressing things might lead to some improvement, even a little.
Of course, the GogoJungle service itself is wonderful. That’s why I use it. However, there are quite a few frustrating aspects, and among them, the most challenging is “inquiry handling.”
Non-EA related inquiries are tough
If it’s about questions regarding EA, I’m happy to help. I can answer as much as needed. However, when inquiries depend on individual environments or have nothing to do with EA specifications, I honestly get stuck.
For example, there have been inquiries like this in the past.
User: “I’m running the bought EA on OANDA, but it doesn’t enter at all. It entered during backtesting, but not in the live environment. Why?”
Me: “Is the smiley face (MT4 automated trading button) turned ON? Are there any errors in the Expert tab? Are the currency pair and time frame correct? Is there enough capital?”
User: “Everything is OK.”
Me: “Is the comment display at the top left showing?”
User: “It’s not showing.”
Me: “In that case, the EA’s processing itself isn’t running. If I’m mistaken, I apologize, but are you using a course that supports EA trading on OANDA? Also, aren’t you using a currency pair whose quotes are greyed out?”
User: “We’re on a course that supports EA trading on OANDA, and the quote display isn’t greyed out.”
Me: “If there is no comment display at the top left, it may mean the EA isn’t loaded. Are you really using one of USDJPY.oj5k / USDJPY.oj3m / USDJPY.oj5m?”
User: “I’m using USDJPY.oj5k, you know?”
I’m stumped. I’ve never used the OANDA environment myself, so honestly I don’t know the details.
Still, I kept digging hard to find any clue, and I realized something.
Me: (Huh? The currency pair in the image you sent isn’t USDJPY? You said you were using USDJPY.oj5k, right?)
Me: “With OANDA, even if you’re using USDJPY.oj5k, does it display like this?”
User: “That’s true. I didn’t notice. I switched to USDJPY.oj5k.”
We managed to resolve it, but it was completely the user’s misunderstanding. However, what I want to say clearly here is“Users aren’t at fault at all”in this case.
Asking questions when you don’t know is natural, and that in itself isn’t a problem. But as a developer, investigating environment-dependent issues is extremely laborious and honestly burdensome.
Things I’d like GogoJungle to improve
I often hear developers say they won’t sell on GogoJungle because these inquiries are burdensome. If possible, I’d like improvements such as:
Make the FAQ easier to find
Display a notice on the inquiry form like “Please check the FAQ first”
Enhance the general EA troubleshooting guide
I’d be happy about these improvements. (Of course, I understand these are not easy…)
If GogoJungle’s service improves, both developers and users will be able to use it more comfortably.
Well then, until next time!
