【12/5 Dollar-Yen Scalping Points】
Good work today! Let’s do some USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, a recap of the Tokyo session today.
Currently, USD/JPY at around 149.90. This morning it started around 150.50, but in the early Tokyo session it traded with no clear direction.
However, once Nakamura, a BOJ policy board member, said “I’m not opposed to rate hikes,” the market started to price in an additional BOJ rate hike in December, and the yen spiked, breaking below 150.
From the early levels, about 60 pips lower, we’re set to hand over to the overseas session.
Now, here are tonight’s USD/JPY scalping points.
● Movement near the 17:00 London market open
● Movement after the 22:30 release of US initial jobless claims and the US trade balance
● Movement near the 23:00 New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
● Watch for important speeches from US officials
● Watch for headlines related to BOJ additional rate hikes
● Watch for headlines related to Trump’s incoming administration
For this evening’s 1-minute scalping, in addition to moves around market opens, the 22:30 US data release will create opportunities. For users of the “1-Minute Scalping Club,” following the theory should be fine.
Also, the 15-minute short-only scalping, ahead of the US Nonfarm Payrolls tomorrow, may present opportunities if there’s a pullback; if we can sell around the 150 yen level, we’ll target that.
Now, the overseas session is about to start!
