In professional baseball games,

a thrown ball can be a “dead ball,”

and hit the batter.

In such cases,

Japanese players often take off their hat and apologize.

In contrast,

foreign pitchers often do not apologize.

Not apologizing means that

“they did not intend to hit you on purpose”

“they did their best and happened to hit”

so they don’t apologize, I think.

Now,

when an EA developer’s EA loses significantly,

there is a question of whether to apologize to the users who are using it.

Bringing up the dead-ball story mentioned earlier would make the discussion difficult.

However,

the difference from the dead-ball story is

that customers are paying money to EA developers to use the EA,

which is a huge difference, I think.

Because of that difference,

I think the direction should be to apologize, but

in the investment world, the phrase “it’s your own responsibility” sticks,

there will likely be EA developers who do not apologize and act dishonestly.

This is not a 10-0 issue, so it’s difficult.

If, hypothetically, we compromise,

I think EA developers must clearly communicate the basics of operating an EA.

Personally, I would focus on “how to choose an EA” and “methods for calculating risk management.”

If they fail to convey that,

I believe they should absolutely apologize, and

I think developers who cannot convey it are not good,

and if they cannot convey it, they are not EA developers.

Getting swept up in enticing ads and buying expensive EAs isn’t good either,

but I also think there is a proper role for us EA developers,

and I would like to reach out broadly to EA developers as well!
