Good job everyone! Alright, let's do dollar-yen scalping again tonight!
First, the Tokyo time overview for today.
Currently, the dollar-yen is around 156.00 yen. This morning it started around 155.40 yen, but during Tokyo time the dollar-buying trend showed no signs of stopping, and without waiting for overseas hours it moved into the 156 yen range.
With the Republicans controlling both chambers, achieving a “Triple Red,” there is renewed concern about inflation accelerating. If inflation accelerates, it could naturally lead to a temporary pause in U.S. rate cuts, or even expectations of further rate cuts may surface.
Later, European and London players will join, but domestically there are likely to be restrictive statements on weaker yen, and I don’t think we’ll see a continued buy-up into the 156 yen range...
From the morning level, we are looking at about a 60-pip rise before handing over to overseas hours.
Now, the tonight’s dollar-yen scalping points.
● Movement around 17:00 London market open
● Movement after 22:30 following the release of U.S. initial jobless claims and the U.S. Producer Price Index
● Movement around 23:00 near the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
● Be cautious of remarks from U.S. officials
● Be cautious of headlines related to Trump’s prospective administration
For tonight’s 1-minute scalp, in addition to market open movements, there seems to be a chance around 22:30 with U.S. initial jobless claims and the U.S. Producer Price Index. For users of the “1-Minute Scalping Club,” we should handle according to theory without issue.
Also, the 15-minute scalp, which is a short-side specialist approach, has continued a dollar-strength trend since yesterday, so the chances are slim. Given the current flow, downside is also limited, so it may be prudent to hold off. I don’t get a concrete selling image...
