【10/23 Dollar-Yen Scalp Points】

Thank you for your hard work! Alright, let’s scalp USDJPY again tonight!

First, here is today's Tokyo session overview. Currently, USDJPY is around 152.15. This morning USDJPY started around 151.00, but during the Tokyo session the dollar-buying momentum continued and moved into the 152 yen area.

It rose by more than 1 yen during the Asian session, didn’t it?

There aren’t any particularly notable catalysts, but the reason seems to be that the 10-year US Treasury yield posted around 4.2%, the Fed remains cautious about further cuts, and the anticipation of Trump’s reelection.

Honestly, if it moves too much in Asia, it makes the overseas session tougher, so it’s not my favorite development…

We’ll likely see a jump of about 1 yen 15 pips compared to the morning level as we head into overseas trading.

Now, here are tonight’s USDJPY scalp points.

● 16:00 Near the London market open

● 22:00 Near the New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)

● 23:00 Movement after the release of US existing home sales

● 27:00 Movement after the release of the Beige Book (Federal Reserve)

● Be mindful of important speakers

● Be mindful of headlines related to further US rate cuts

Tonight’s 1-minute scalp, in addition to the market moves around the open, there should be potential after the 23:00 US existing home sales release. The indicator itself is of low importance, but Lagarde will be speaking at the same time, so some movement can be expected.

The 27:00 Beige Book release is a time window that might be a bit tricky to wake up for, but movement is also expected here.

Also, at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting, Ueda will speak. This is at 28:00, so it’s best to pass. Still, what will Mr. Ueda say in this situation?

Additionally, the 15-minute scalp continues to show a strong market dollar-buying trend, so there might be little room for action, as short sellers who built up positions have been burned quite a bit…
