10/17 EA doesn't mean GOLD averaging down
FX automated trading, the double-e of EA developers of Reiwa era.
As an EA developer,
for everyone’s fulfilling EA operation life,
I want to convey the current state of EAs without omitting anything.
When people talk about the current state of EAs,
for example in Japan,
many may imagine GOLD’s grid (martingale) EA.
This is because,
on X and Instagram, TikTok, Facebook,
you see screenshots of huge profits
and are directed to LINE open chats
where EAs are distributed, and most of them are GOLD.
Indeed, even from a perspective of an EA developer like me,
GOLD tends to have large price movements relative to the spread,
so I think there are opportunities to earn.
However,
the quality of an EA and its merit are separate things.
Unfortunately,
the EPs (EAs) obtained in such places tend to be generally poor in quality.
Probably,
there is a belief that “EA will not always win for a long period.”
I feel that, and
assuming that,
they engage in over-optimization in an ultra-short term
and try to rake in profits in the ultra-short term,
which leads to many poor-quality EAs.
If you flip that around,
for EA developers like us,
not being able to create a logic that shows a rising trend over a long backtest
is the flip side of the coin,
in my view.
Since operation style and earning style vary by values,
I won’t push my own values on you, but
if an ultra-short-term over-optimized EA exists,
when the market changes, it becomes unusable quickly,
and from a professional EA developer’s viewpoint,
judging when it will stop working is extremely difficult,
so until you stop operating it, large losses are unavoidable,
or you must prepare for a maximum drawdown equivalent to the annual profit in calculations,
that is the kind of assumption I think one must make.
Well, I have specialized in single-position EAs such as USDJPY until now,
I will continue researching GOLD EAs and
hope to deliver them to everyone!
