10/31 Sometimes I borrow the power of ChatGPT, its 11
FX automated trading and EA developer Reiwa's Double-E is here.
Sometimes I’ll borrow a little help from ChatGPT (lol).
It’s by no means a sign of lack of material;
I have lots of notes and drafts, and
it’s a hassle to organize, so I’ve dumped it all here (lol).
Stop using EAs that announce when they are operational or stopped – What is a true EA?
Today I’ll talk about important points to avoid when using EA (expert advisor) for automated trading.
In particular, I will delve into the point that “you should not use an EA that announces when it is running or stopped.”
What is an EA in the first place?
First, an EA (Expert Advisor) is a program that trades automatically.
Its purpose is to execute trades and generate profits automatically, without humans constantly monitoring the market.
In other words, I believe the basic role of an EA is to produce profits with “set-and-forget” operation.
However, there are EAs that require manual adjustment of rates, take-profit, stop-loss widths, or that announce off/on depending on market conditions.
In my personal opinion, such EAs cannot be called true EAs.
Are EAs that require manual settings not EAs?
If an automated trading system (EA) requires manual settings, I think it has strayed from the essence of automated trading.
The biggest appeal of an EA is that the trader does not need to constantly monitor the market and trades automatically.
However, an EA that requires manual configuration changes means that, in the end, it cannot generate profits without human intervention.
For example, an EA that requires an announcement to turn off during a market sharp move does not fulfill the original purpose of automation.
That, I think, is effectively just a “discretionary trading aid.”
What are the conditions of a true EA?
I consider a true EA to meet the following conditions.
Operates without reliance on market conditions and can run unattended
A true EA should be able to generate long-term profits without constant human intervention, even as market conditions change.
It should deliver stable results regardless of market environment.
No need for manual on/off
Since an EA trades according to its program, even in sharp market moves, trades should be automatically controlled by pre-set rules.
In other words, an EA that requires users to manually switch on/off cannot be considered truly automated trading.
Automatically generate positive returns
Ideally, simply running should yield long-term positive profits.
Of course losses can occur depending on market conditions, but if the total result isn’t positive, it’s not valuable as an EA.
EA as a supplementary tool
However, an EA as a discretionary trading aid may have a different kind of value.
For example, when it’s difficult to time trades manually, using EA as a supplementary tool can improve accuracy.
But in that case, it should be positioned as a tool that assists discretionary trading, not as an EA itself.
If it’s a supplementary tool,
it seems more honest to sell it as an e-book or explanatory material rather than as an EA product.
About selling on Gogojan
On Gogojan, the sales commission for EAs is 35%, but e-books can be sold with a commission of about 10%–20%.
A discretionary trading aid or a tool that requires manual operation would be more honest to sell as an e-book rather than at the high EA commission rate.
Selling as an e-book allows detailed explanations of how to use the tool and its strategies, enabling users to utilize the tool accurately.
As a result, the value provided to users becomes more transparent, and they will purchase with a correct expectation.
Summary
EA, by definition, is an automated trading system designed to generate profits with a set-and-forget approach.
EAs that require manual on/off switching or manual settings are beyond the realm of automated trading and are merely discretionary trading aids.
If it’s such a supplementary tool, it’s better to offer it as Gogojan’s e-book rather than selling it as an EA product to users.
A truly usable EA is a system that can generate long-term profits without manual intervention.
When choosing an EA, it’s important to evaluate it from this perspective and determine what kind of system it is.
With that, please continue to have a great trading life!
See you!
