Alibaba announces international expansion of its "BaaS: Blockchain as a Service" business
Alibaba Cloud's Blockchain as a Service
The press release states the following;
“Our Chinese customers have already experienced the benefits of the BaaS platform, and we are pleased to be able to offer this service to other corporate customers around the world.”
Blockchain as a Service (BaaS) launched by Alibaba Cloud in October last year provides two enterprise-focused blockchain platforms. One is “Hyperledger Fabric” hosted by the Linux Foundation. The other is “Ant Blockchain,” developed by Ant Financial, Alibaba's financial services affiliate.
The applications they support include not only monitoring, operation, and maintenance capabilities but also smart contracts, consortium blockchain management, auto-deployment, and a variety of SDKs (software development kits). In practice, their distributed storage and tamper-proof features have been provided to a range of services, including public payroll systems, logistics, and the healthcare industry.
