Hello. This is Hayakawa from GogoJungle Co., Ltd. Today we have a special guest, Mr. O-san, who has achieved great success as an investor. Mr. O-san, please go ahead.

Hello, thank you for having me.

In this video series, we’d like to hear from Mr. O-san how he achieved success in trading—the path he took. First, could you tell us what prompted you to start investing?

I started investing about five years ago. At the time, I wanted to increase my income as a side job, so I became interested in investing. At first I relied on products and indicators that promised easy profits, but results were hard to come by, and I kept trying different things.

You started investing as a side job, but how did you learn in the early days?

At first I studied technical analysis methods from books and the internet. I learned well-known techniques like Dow Theory, Elliott Wave, and Fibonacci. I focused on chart shapes, especially double tops and highs/lows, and gradually learned how to read the market.

I see. It seems that mastering the basics was essential. Could you tell us about the early setbacks or difficulties you faced as you kept trading?

In the beginning I thought profits would come easily, but it wasn’t that easy. Even when I tried several indicators or products, I didn’t get results and felt discouraged often. Still, by continuing to learn technical analysis, I gradually gained experience and learned to read charts better.

Since you began investing, you’ve gradually gained experience. Specifically, how did you improve your trading?

At first I checked charts after work or during remote work. I traded mainly during the London and New York sessions, increasing time spent watching charts, which sharpened my senses. By continuing to study charts, my understanding of technical analysis deepened, and my trading results gradually improved.

As you developed a habit of looking at charts, how did your results actually change?

My win rate rose compared to the early days. I could sometimes take 10 pips per trade, and occasionally 30 pips. However, I always kept risk management in mind, so I avoided large losses. Still, win rate was roughly 50–60%, and I hadn’t achieved consistent profitability yet.

Later, I understand you turned your focus to scalping. How did you come to adopt scalping?

Initially I traded in a manner close to day trading, but I felt my knowledge and experience were lacking, so I wondered if beating the market with technical analysis alone was possible. Then I encountered scalping techniques and realized there was potential to achieve results in a short period.

Yes, that’s right. By establishing this method, my trading results improved dramatically, and I was able to accumulate profit.
