【Trade Idea Lab】You are not suited for trading

Trading is a genuine profession, so there is naturally something like occupational aptitude. Of course, even in our prop firm, we conduct trader aptitude tests during recruitment. But in reality, many people start trading regardless of that aptitude. As a result, they begin trading with high expectations but fail to achieve the desired results,"I knew I wasn’t suited for this after all"and end up feeling discouraged.

But please don’t misunderstand. I’m not saying "quit trading." On the contrary, I wholeheartedly support taking on trading. However, before you start, you need to prepare properly. In particular, understanding your own aptitude as a trader and making an effort to align yourself with that aptitude is important.

Trading may seem like something almost anyone can do at first glance. These days there are many apps that let you trade easily on a smartphone, and when you hear the stories of successful people you see on social media, you might think, "I could try it too." But trading isn’t that easy.

For example, my acquaintance Kubo-kun. He graduated from a science university and was strong in data analysis. He was smarter than me and tended to think things through logically. He thought, if I can keep a cat, I could probably do it myself. With confidence, he started saying, "I can earn more from trading than you!" but after six months he suffered a big loss and withdrew from trading.

Why? Because he did not have the “aptitude as a trader.” Specifically, he lacked decisiveness. Trading often requires quick decisions, but A-kun spent too much time analyzing and often missed opportunities.

/// What happens when you ignore aptitude? ///

If you start trading ignoring aptitude, you’ll take on big risks like A-kun did. Since money is involved in trading, whether you succeed or not depends heavily on aptitude. Therefore,understand your own aptitude and tailor your trading skills to that aptitudeand work on improving your trading skills accordingly.

Of course, not everyone is born with perfect aptitude right away. But that doesn’t mean you should give up. By knowing your aptitude and making efforts to improve it, anyone can have a good chance of succeeding in trading.

So, where can you learn that aptitude? This is the biggest problem. To be honest, places that truly teach trader aptitude are only companies that specialize in trading or trading communities run by those companies.

But finding such communities is also difficult. Nowadays, information about trading floods social media. But among it, there is a lot of misinformation and false information, perhaps more numerous than there are stars in the galaxy. Finding truly trustworthy information is extremely hard.
