Tokyo time, the dollar/yen is pressured toward the 153.63 level as exporters convert dollars153.63to yen, but there is a dollar-buying on the fixings on the Gotō day (5-10th) and gains ahead of the Nikkei average rise. In the afternoon, with the idea that because there was no news of a rate hike by the Bank of Japan, the rate hike might be postponed, the dollar/yen rose to155.21yen. In European and U.S. hours,NHK reported that the Bank of Japan is considering raising the policy rate from the current0-0.1% to about0.25%, and Nikkei newspaper reported that the BOJ will also decide on concrete measures for quantitative tightening by reducing government bond purchases, leading to a broad yen advance. The dollar/yen briefly fell to152.63yen.
