I come from a discretionary trading background,

so which is better, FX automated trading or discretionary trading?

I don’t think this is a binary debate,

and I believe both have strengths and weaknesses.

If possible,

being able to do both would be ideal.

For example,

if you are proficient at both discretionary trading and EA operation,

you might transfer funds from the better-performing side, reduce the lot size,

and move funds to the other side to increase trading size,

as some people do.

Discretionary trading and FX automated trading, EA management both have periods of success and decline,

and there are times when each is more suitable.

There are times when discretionary trading is better, and times when EA is better.

I think there are timing differences for each.

If you change the time frame with EA,

you may take the opposite position with discretionary trading,

which happens regularly.

That, in itself, can be a form of risk diversification.

In the case of discretionary trading,

while looking at real charts and understanding the method,

you assess whether the current market fits or not,

whether it aligns with anomaly-based considerations as well,

and you examine those aspects,

where is the right entry moment,

and enter only in those places,

so that you can adapt it to your own style,

and I think that would be ideal.
