Considerations on Logic Theft of Automated Trading EAs

I have long been involved in the automated trading EA industry, but I certainly did not always win in trading; I simply stayed present. If I did nothing, I would neither profit nor harm those around me, and I quietly carried on.

However, recently there have been persistent rumors about a certain automated trading EA developer K. There are frequent reports that K's EA uses stolen logic. K denies this every time, but I clearly understand why K's EA is suspected of using stolen logic. There are two reasons.

Reason 1: Loss of documentation and its impact

First, there was an incident where a person M physically lost important documents about the trading logic while talking with K. Afterward, K began releasing an automated trading EA with exactly the same trading logic as the lost documents. Since M did not authorize K to use those documents at all, this incident was considered problematic. I learned this information within one month of K releasing the EA, which significantly lowered my評価 of K.

Reason 2: Existence of similar logic

Next, K's automated trading EA used a kind of logic that was the same as an EA I had released earlier than K. K may have tried to compete, but I have been disappointed by many people like K, so I had little interest this time as well.

If these facts become publicly known, the most troubled will be not K himself but the people around him. They will attempt to manipulate impressions and defend K by claiming I am lying. If they do not, their own fraudulent acts, which supported K, will come to light. Also, if they wish to prove their own innocence, they will be compelled to deny K.

Eventually, K confessed to using the data as a basis, and I heard that the data were from a well-known domestic university, which convinced me that what I heard from M was true. Perhaps K thought I knew nothing, but that was naïve. IQ is always relative, and the ability to discern truth is necessary.

With these facts in mind, I recommend everyone exercise caution when selecting automated trading EAs. Pay close attention to products with theft allegations and use EAs from trustworthy developers.
