Circle Acquires Tokenization Startup
The unicorn Circle Internet Financial, valued at $3 billion, has signed an agreement to acquire SeedInvest. SeedInvest helps non-public small and medium enterprises raise capital from accredited investors and individual investors.
Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire, who owns a portion of the company through Goldman Sachs, said the acquisition is a way to legally provide security tokens while complying with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations;
“SeedInvest was at the forefront as a means to revolutionize how people raise capital and to work with the government. Just as every company has a website, security tokens will eventually become an important new category that every company will adopt.”
“It’s not only a means of an ICO for companies but also a way to support the tokenization of all companies.”
