【SWELL】Europe's major Santander Bank announces expansion plans for Ripple-enabled OnePay FX
Transitioning to the World of Open Platforms
The Santander Bank first invested in the U.S. international money transfer startup Ripple in 2015, and a year later doubled the investment. In 2016, they piloted an international payments application using Ripple technology. Then “OnePay FX” was released this April. OnePay FX is a mobile app that provides fast and inexpensive cross-border payments with the help of Ripple’s xCurrent. Currently, OnePay FX is available to customers in the United Kingdom, Spain, Brazil, and Poland.
At the US-based Francisco event “SWELL,” Santander Bank’s Chief Innovation Officer Ed Metzger said, “I believe financial services are moving toward a world of open platforms where they collaborate with companies that provide excellent customer service. That belief is at the core of OnePay FX.”
