Major mining machine company Bitmain acquires Bitcoin Cash wallet Telescope
Investment in a Browser-Based Wallet
The browser-based wallet "Telescope" was launched earlier this year and enables real-time Bitcoin Cash transactions. According to the release, Telescope currently runs on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, with plans to expand to other platforms after acquisition (0*).
The Telescope wallet is supported by BitPay payments and moneybutton.com (1*), and can store cryptographic keys in the browser extension. In other words, transactions are signed directly from the user's browser. The project claims that storing funds in this manner provides users with security comparable to a standalone (2*) wallet.
Nishant Sharma, International Public Relations and Communications Manager at Bitmain, states that Telescope brings a “simple yet important innovation” to the Bitcoin Cash ecosystem;
“Browser-embedded cryptocurrency wallets are a promising technology. The Telescope development team is doing very interesting work, and we look forward to potential collaboration with Bitcoin Cash on their project.”
