I tried downloading from a site that seems official

Apparently it has become MT5? or something
How can I make it MT4?

Probably that site no longer has MT4
No matter how many times you download, you can only download MT5
Basically, you have to download MT4 from a dealer/etc.

After opening an account on such a dealer's site
download MT4 within the dealer
and apply for a demo account to activate MT4
