Last night the pound fluctuated wildly. YEN Zō explains the原因 in his newsletter as follows.


In the early part of Europe, the Governor of the Bank of England prior to the king criticized the UK's Brexit preparations. At this point, the pound had fallen near its lowest levels.
Later, reports that Britain and Germany would drop major demands regarding EU withdrawal caused the pound to surge, rising to around 1.2980 and about 144.95.
Subsequently, the German government spokesperson stated that there would be no change in Germany's policy, causing the pound-dollar to fall to around 1.2870 and the pound-yen to around 143.60.
