“Feeling a big gap between the ideal state and reality,”
“you end up making things even harder for yourself.”
When things aren’t going well,
it happens to everyone, and it can come at any time.
In such moments,
the more you think, “If only things could go as well as back then,”
the more you escape from reality,
the farther the present reality gets from you,
and the more your motivation fades or you become reckless,
creating a chain reaction of negativity that can ruin your life in the worst case.
Becoming aware of “what is the ideal state for me?”
and understanding what is different about the present and correcting it is important for making progress,
but what should you do when the ideal state and reality are clearly far apart?
this is something we should think about to live better.
【What is good and bad?】
So, what are the ideal state and other states?
A’s ideal state is not necessarily B’s ideal state.
If A has 100,000 yen in the account and earns 10,000,
and B has 10,000,000 yen and earns 10,000,
it’s not the same feeling at all.
【Good and bad are relative】
If the highest mountain in the world is 8,000 meters,
you would feel a 100m mountain is small.
if the highest mountain in the world were 200m,
a 100m mountain would feel relatively tall.
In short, what you feel is not absolute, but relative.
【What to do when things aren’t going well】
Remembering the 8,000m level while you’re at 100m only makes things worse.
If you aim for 200m when you’re at 100m and achieve it, you can say you’ve improved relatively.
No matter how small, any progress is good,
and if you move forward even slightly from your current self, you should be confident.
With that cumulative progress,
you might suddenly find yourself at 8,000m without realizing it.
For example, if your ideal weight is 10 kg lighter than now,
and you can lose 2 kg more than before,
you should be confident about that.
That accumulation can help you reach the goal of minus 10 kg.
